    Part Time: Monday - Friday, 3:00-6:00 PM

     

    Job Description: The Barkhamsted School is seeking qualified applicants to facilitate the K-6 aftercare program.  The qualified candidate will be professional, have experience working with elementary school aged children, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be available Monday - Friday during after school hours (3:00 pm - 6:00 pm).  

     

    Responsibilities: 

     
    • Operate the after school program on a daily basis with a co-teacher
    • ?Supervise children and provide a safe, welcoming environment
    • Facilitate activities such as snack, outdoor play, board games, etc.
    • Maintain positive relationships with families, children, and school personnel
    • Set up and clean up of program site 
    • Collaborate well with a co-teacher during program time
    • First Aid/CPR/Meds administration certification to be acquired within 3 months of hire
    • Other duties as may be assigned
    • Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position
     

    Qualifications: 

     
    • Experience working with school age children 
    • Knowledge of child development
    • Awareness of age-appropriate activities
    • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
    • Demonstrated reliability and strong sense of responsibility
     

    Physical Requirements: 

     
    • Must be able to stand for the entire shift and move through program space (indoor and outdoor) with students

     

    Pay: hourly rate of $20.32
