Job Description: Summary: The Applications Engineer/Technologist at 3M India will lead technical interactions with customers to deliver reliable, value-based solutions for coating applications. This role involves assessing customer requirements, implementing engineering solutions, and ensuring product performance through hands-on applications and testing. Responsibilities include technical communication via presentations, training, and digital media, as well as collaboration with cross-functional teams like manufacturing, quality, and sales. JD in detail: As an Application Engineer/Technologist, you will have the opportunity to explore your curiosity and work with some of the most innovative and diverse individuals worldwide. Your role will make an impact by: Leading technical interactions with customers to understand their technical requirements and application needs, providing reliable and value-based solutions. Communicating technical aspects of various types of coatings, and associated portfolios through presentations, training, publications, demonstrations, and digital media. Implementing engineering solutions based on assessed customer needs, including coating application parameters and performance expectations. Collaborating with teams such as manufacturing, quality, customer service, sales etc. to ensure the creation and supply of customer solutions. Assessing product application and performance through hands-on applications at customer production lines and testing in internal and external laboratories according to applicable standards and practices. Your Skills and Expertise To succeed in this role, 3M requires the following qualifications and skills: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Paint Technology, or Material Science from a reputed institution/university. Minimum of 10 years of combined experience as an Engineer in Applications, Testing, Development and/or Technical Services, having experience working with coatings in manufacturing/engineering companies, consultants, and/or OEMs. Strong knowledge of material science, including application and testing of coatings in corrosion protection, optical or other applications. Understanding of equipment typically used in production scale application industry. Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Office tools, and familiarity with CAD or other design and analysis software are desirable. Digital skills such as creating videos, photography, video editing, and PowerPoint presentations are required. Project management skills are desirable. Hands-on experience with environmental testing and interpretation of standards is preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills are a must.
