Overview:
Location: Remote
Travel: Quarterly travel to Guam
Salary: $130,000 - $175,000

We are seeking an experienced IBM Certified System Administrator / Implementor who will support our Guam client. This role will be responsible for performing enterprise system configuration updates and modifications necessary for the implementation of various enterprise-level OTECH improvement plans, including the subset of required changes or modifications to enable the overall Medicaid project needs where applicable. Prior State experience supporting Medicaid-related projects is highly preferred.

Duties:

  • Administer and support IBM i (AS/400 / iSeries) systems, including configuration, upgrades, patching, performance tuning, and availability monitoring.
  • Plan and execute system implementations, migrations, and cutovers; develop implementation runbooks, rollback plans, and post-implementation validation steps.
  • Manage identity, access, and system security controls; apply hardening standards, patch baselines, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues across compute, storage, virtualization, and operating systems; perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain system documentation including architecture diagrams, configuration baselines, SOPs, and change records.
  • Support backup/restore operations, disaster recovery exercises, and continuity planning to meet recovery objectives.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to schedule changes, validate impacts, and ensure minimal downtime during releases.
  • Monitor system health, capacity, and performance; provide recommendations to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies, operational procedures, and applicable security/compliance requirements.

Mandatory Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree or combination of experience and education.
  • IBM i-Series AS/400 Certified.
  • Microsoft Certified (e.g., Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, Identity and Access Administrator).
  • Linux Certification (e.g., Red Hat, Linux+).
  • VMWare Certification.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator and Implementor.
  • 1+ years of experience supporting users and/or endpoints within large enterprise or state environments.
  • 3+ years of experience administering virtual machines in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain 99.9%+ service availability for critical systems through proactive monitoring, patching, and incident response.
  • Strong knowledge of system security, access controls, patch management, and operational best practices.
  • Required travel quarterly to Guam.
