Workday Internal Jobs Site for Students Position Title: Before School Assistant Teacher - Superior YMCA Job Category: Student Hourly Job Profile: Student Help Job Summary: The Assistant Teacher is required to adhere and implement the mission, goals, and values of the Superior Douglas County Family YMCA within the local community. This involves delivering high-quality child education programs in the YMCA service area and adhering to the Wisconsin Licensing Rules. This position is responsible for instructional leadership, curriculum, and program activities. The Assistant Teacher supervises and guides children preschool or school age’s development in a safe and healthy environment. The Assistant Teacher’s schedule is set at the time of employment but are subject to change by the Director based on the needs of the Center. Ensures all federal, state, local, Duluth Area Family YMCA requirements comply and are followed. • Supervises preschool or school age children, classroom, and all activities involving the Center. Assists in developing daily lesson plans with the Teacher. Instructs and supervises children for social and developmental activities. Assist with serving of nutritious breakfast/snacks in accordance with the monthly calendar. Teach proper eating habits and manners. Recommend changes, improvements, needs, and other ideas that would benefit the YMCA Childcare program as well as address concerns. Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. Assists in parental and guardian conferences. Provides professional and timely communication with parents, guardians, and community. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training. Maintain continuing education required for the position. Maintain childcare room/areas and YMCA childcare equipment. Keep director informed of program needs and equipment repairs. Select, store, and inventory classroom equipment, materials, and supplies. Clean toys once a month. Fosters an inclusive environment appreciative of differences in the workplace. Meaningfully participate in and lead efforts to support the Y’s commitment to equity and diversity. Wisconsin Licensing Rules: Be at least 18 years of age. Have completed high school or its equivalent as determined by the Wisconsin department of public instruction. Have satisfactorily completed one of the following within 6 months after assuming the position: A. A noncredit department-approved course in school-age care. Note: Introduction to the School-Age Care Profession is the noncredit course approved by the department to meet the entry level training requirements for a school-age group leader. B. Two credits in school-age child growth and development or its equivalent. C. The first course of the Registry After school & Youth Development Credential. The schools you would be working at are: Cooper Elementary School, Bryant Elementary School, Northern Lights Elementary School, and Great Lakes Elementary School - these are all within 5 miles of campus. Minimum Qualifications: Successfully meet the Assistant Child Care Teacher qualifications set by Wisconsin Must be CPR/AED and First Aid certified for adults, children, and infants.
