The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms for upcoming examinations.</p><p></p><p><b>Essential Functions: </b></p><ul><li>Provides excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner </li><li>Prepares & reviews patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying that all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up to date</li><li>Measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height </li><li>Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stock supplies, track referrals, and answer phones as needed </li><li>Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly </li><li>Other duties as assigned</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Education:</b></p><ul><li>High School Degree or GED</li></ul><p><br /><b>Licensure/Certification:</b></p><p><u>Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required): </u></p><ul><li>Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); American Association of Medical Assisting, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); American Medical Technologists, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); National Healthcareer Association (NHA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); National Association for Health Professionals, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)</li><li>If incumbent is unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not accepted in the state of South Carolina)</li></ul><p>BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)</p><p></p><p><b>Experience:</b></p><ul><li>One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required)</li><li>Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office (preferred, not required)</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Skills & Abilities:</b></p><ul><li>Possesses problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills</li><li>Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner</li></ul><p>As a Bon Secours associate, you're part of a Mission that matters.
