Job Summary

BNY is seeking an experienced Compliance Project Manager to support Financial Crimes and Risk-related initiatives. This role will lead and coordinate complex compliance projects across business, technology, and data teams within a fast-paced, agile environment.

The individual will drive end-to-end project management activities—including planning, risk identification, stakeholder communication, reporting, and execution oversight—while ensuring initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to regulatory and business objectives.

This is a 4-month assignment based in New York, NY. The expectation is 4 days onsite per week, working 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Project Management: Lead and manage Financial Crimes Compliance initiatives from planning through execution, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
  • Project Planning & Governance: Develop detailed project plans, schedules, risk logs, and reporting frameworks. Monitor milestones and escalate issues to senior leadership as needed.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Identify, track, and mitigate risks while maintaining clear documentation and controls throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain regular communication with Compliance leadership, technology teams, business partners, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and expectation management.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Serve as liaison between Compliance, Technology, Business Analysts, and data teams to support system integrations and regulatory-driven initiatives.
  • Data & Model Implementation Support: Assist in organizing and managing projects involving data science models and compliance-related system enhancements.
  • Agile Delivery Environment: Operate effectively within agile pod structures, participating in sprint ceremonies and driving structured execution across evolving initiatives.
  • Reporting & Executive Updates: Prepare status reports, dashboards, and executive-ready materials for senior management within the Compliance organization.
  • Change Management Support: Contribute to organizing both formalized and evolving project workstreams during a period of significant regulatory and operational change.

Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years of experience in Project Management (VP-level equivalent)
  • Experience within Compliance, Financial Crimes, or Risk functions in Financial Services
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional and technology-driven initiatives
  • Experience operating in agile environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present to leadership
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline
  • Self-starter able to integrate quickly and deliver impact immediately

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting system integrations or regulatory technology initiatives
  • Exposure to data/model implementation projects
  • PMP or Prince2 certification
