Minimum of 3 years of experience in writing and editing for newspaper outlets or other print media. Proven track record of producing clean, accurate, and engaging copy under tight deadlines. Strong familiarity with AP style and other industry-standard editorial guidelines. Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail. Ability to write in a clear, concise, and engaging style that resonates with newspaper readers. Strong research skills, with the ability to find and verify accurate information quickly.

Core responsibilities:

Write and edit clean, compelling, and accurate copy for newspaper articles, including news stories, features, editorials, and op-eds. Conduct thorough research to ensure all content is well-informed, factual, and relevant to current events and topics of interest. Collaborate with editors, reporters, and other team members to develop content that aligns with the publication's voice and editorial guidelines. Review and refine copy to eliminate errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style, ensuring it meets high editorial standards. Adapt and revise content based on feedback from editors, making necessary adjustments to improve clarity, flow, and impact. Ensure that all content adheres to AP style guidelines and the specific style guide of the newspaper. Verify facts, quotes, and sources to maintain the credibility and accuracy of all published content. Stay up-to-date with current events, industry trends, and relevant news topics to produce timely and relevant content.
