INFORMATION SPECIFIC TO THIS POSITION

This position is for the 2026‑2027 school year.

  • Pay Range: $87,345–$112,238.25, based on qualifications and experience.

Percentage: 100%

Work calendar days: 218

Duration of position: Ongoing

SUMMARY

Responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the K‑12 Fine & Applied Arts curriculum and instruction. Work closely with administrators, teachers, and other educational professionals to ensure alignment with district goals and state standards, while fostering a culture of academic excellence through effective professional learning, creative process‑based pedagogy, and instructional support for visual arts, music, theatre, and dance.

JOB TASKS

  • Lead implementation of high‑quality Visual Arts, Music, and Theatre curricula with a focus on the Colorado State Standards. Stay current on trends in arts education and digital media to ensure the curriculum remains rigorous and relevant.
  • Ensure vertical alignment of fine and applied arts from kindergarten through grade 12, focusing on consistency and coherence across grade levels and schools. Work with department leads, teachers, and administrators to implement performance‑based instructional routines.
  • Monitor and assess the integrity of curriculum implementation, providing ongoing support and guidance to buildings to ensure equitable access to visual and performing arts and music pathways.
  • Manage district‑wide budgets allocated for fine and applied arts to ensure equitable distribution of funds.
  • Design and facilitate high‑quality professional learning focused on arts integration, specialized instructional techniques, the assessment of creative work, and the integration of adopted digital and physical resources.
  • Develop a group of school‑based content leaders for visual art, music, and theatre to build capacity around the integration of adopted curriculum and specialized resources in their respective learning communities.
  • Coach and mentor teacher leaders to improve instructional practices and enhance curriculum delivery, specifically focusing on the portfolio process and performance excellence.
  • Foster collaboration among teacher leaders to ensure coherence in curriculum implementation across schools and vertical alignment from elementary to middle and middle to high school.
  • Collaborate with teacher leaders and administrators to develop and implement formative and summative assessment practices, including exhibitions, audition, and performance rubrics.
  • Oversee the selection, maintenance, and inventory of specialized art and music equipment (e.g., musical instruments, kilns, etc.).
  • Coordinate district‑wide events such as art shows, honor ensembles, and theatrical performances.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for K‑12 art, music, and theatre within the district, working closely with school leaders, teacher leaders, and instructional staff.
  • Participate in district‑wide committees and workgroups to ensure that curriculum decisions support the overall educational mission and strategic plan of Poudre School District.
  • Foster a culture of innovation in teaching and learning, encouraging the integration of applied arts, career and technical education (CTE) in the arts, and community partnerships with local galleries and performance venues.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
  • Master's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience instructing students in a classroom setting required.
  • Instructional coaching experience preferred.
  • Leadership at school or district level preferred.
  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • Valid US driver's license.
  • Valid Colorado teaching or special service provider license with appropriate endorsement preferred.
  • Colorado Principal or Administrator's License preferred.
