Data Science Partner Engagement Director - Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center - Seattle, WA - work from home job Company: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Job description: Responsibilities • Develops a comprehensive understanding of the data and technology needs of the Fred Hutchinson community including Researchers, Clinicians, and Fred Hutch administrative functions (Shared Resources, Information Technology). • The Director will lead engagement with partners in collaboration with the CDO and will stand in for the CDO in partner relationship engagements when the CDO is unavailable • Persuasively articulate the mission and goals of Fred Hutch and translate complex science and research priorities to inspire technological partnership and philanthropic investment • Under the direction of the CDO, and in partnership with Philanthropy and Business Development colleagues, develop and implement effective, creative, and personalized strategies for gifts, grants, in-kind support, industry sponsorships, and other investments. • Develop institutional scale partnerships with technology partners to facilitate technology development for Fred Hutch priorities. • In partnership with DaSL, Compliance, Legal, Philanthropy, and Business development staff develops a comprehensive map of data and technology partnerships at the Fred Hutch and identifies strategic areas of opportunity for philanthropic and/or sponsored investments. • Interfaces with internal and external technology and data partners. Serves as key point of contact to drive collaborations and partnerships.. • Works collaboratively with Business Development and Philanthropy staff and programs to build and steward relationships, including with individuals, foundations, corporations, venture capitalists, and other non-profits as appropriate. • Represent the vision and goals of DaSL to build external awareness of Fred Hutch’s brand and technology-focused partnership opportunities within life sciences and as a cancer hospital. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment. • Ability and willingness to effectively communicate asynchronously with collaborators and DaSL staff using Slack, Teams, and other software supporting documentation and sharing used in the group. • Bachelor’s degree. • Minimum of 8 years (preferably 10) of experience in technology, data science, research, healthcare leadership, or academic medicine. • Experience with strategic planning, business development, forecasting, and development of benchmarks. • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills. • Ability to engage with research leaders and their teams to facilitate partnerships, research endeavors and complex decision-making across organizations. Additional Requirements: • Some travel and weekend and evening work will be required. Desired Skills and Expertise: • Experience with non-profit organizations, fundraising, and/or marketing. • Track record of creating and developing technological partnerships between organizations. • Familiarity with common contract vehicles MOUs, MSAs, and SOWs. • Experience with data sharing and data exchange agreements. • Experience with cloud computing technologies and billing. • Experience with data sharing laws and regulations (HIPAA, GDPR, California Data Protection). • Willingness to travel to conferences and technology meetings. • Experience in an academic or biomedical environment. • Good with people and relationship building. • Good communication skills. Position Details: This position is based in Seattle and weekly on-campus presence will be required (no remote will be considered). The annual base salary range for this position is from $138,022 to $230,036 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
