Director, Tech Solutions and Enablement

About the position

The Director, Tech Solutions and Enablement owns the Tech Solutions and Enablement portfolio, heavily focused on driving experimentation and innovation in Member Technology. Through a mix of hands-on technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration and coordination, the Director drives exploration and evaluation of new solutions across multiple initiatives using innovative technologies, including AI and automation. The Director partners closely with Customer Experience, Data, Security, Club Technology, and Tech Operations leaders to identify and prioritize opportunities and rapidly develops initial solutions to address longstanding challenges. They also successfully transition their work to Product Engineering leaders, who further develop and scale proven solutions. As a senior member of a growing team, the Director plays a crucial role in shaping and defining the team's culture through indirect technology leadership and direct people management. They thrive in a fast-paced environment where teamwork, technical excellence, business understanding, and cross-functional collaboration are paramount. This role follows a hybrid schedule and requires regular, in-person work at our Hampton, NH office. Our hybrid model is M/T/W in office and TH/F are optional work-from-home. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of our office. Fully remote work is not available for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Drives multiple initiatives concurrently, providing technical expertise, hands-on contributions, and oversight of problem/solution exploration.
  • Defines a repeatable methodology for identifying, prioritizing, building, and evaluating solutions in new and innovative ways.
  • Defines new technology patterns, including new applications of AI and automation, while developing solutions to longstanding challenges.
  • Also applies AI in their development and delivery activities, sharing their learning across the team, department, and organization.
  • Develops and reviews delivery plans that take advantage of cutting-edge technologies to deliver solutions that exceed expectations.
  • Defines and mobilizes cross-functional teams to execute against innovation plans that consider value-stream mapping and ROI.
  • Manages feasibility risks continuously and collaborates with others to solve them throughout technology exploration.
  • Gains the trust of Product Engineering leaders with their user-centric and business-centric applications of technology, with a keen focus on transferring proven approaches for production and scale.
  • Leads cross-functional collaboration to ensure dependencies are identified and addressed as part of technology solution development.
  • Defines and articulates the long-term technical vision and strategy across multiple initiatives.
  • Serves as a trusted technical advisor and decision-maker for complex technology decisions and brings an incremental mindset to those they work with.
  • Provides hands-on mentorship and guidance to the team members, fostering skill growth, innovation, and effectiveness.
  • Acts as a technical ambassador, representing technology innovation to executive leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Defines and champions best practices in AI architecture, implementation, and evaluation, including AI-powered delivery capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, etc.) or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of software delivery and technology integration experience and 5+ years of experience leading multiple cross-functional teams
  • Significant breadth and depth of experience in rapid development of technology solutions, with a heavy focus on practical applications of AI. This includes a proven track record of leading early-stage strategic initiatives, including planning, discovery, and prototyping activities, and collaborating across multiple functional and technical teams to deliver solutions
  • Hands-on experience with GenAI platforms and frameworks (e.g., AWS Bedrock, Amazon Lex, GCP Vertex AI, LangChain, LangGraph)
  • Expert-level experience validating solutions that address critical user needs that contribute significant ROI to an organization. Must be a hands-on solutioner and implementer, using a player-coach approach to lead by example
  • Deep knowledge and practical experience integrating AI into complex applications and services. Experience using Generative AI (GenAI) to support development of solutions while integrating GenAI into new solutions is also a plus
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle ambiguous problems and make data-driven decisions
  • Strong attention to detail, efficient, and organized with an ability to establish priorities and objectives
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Able to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externally
