DOCUMENT REMEDIATION SPECIALIST, ACCESSIBILITY
Introduction
The Maryland Department of Budget & Management (DBM) Chief Information Office (CIO) and the Maryland Department of Information Technology’s (DoIT) Office of Accessibility (OOA) coordinate accessible information technology in compliance with state and federal law. OOA supports state agencies in developing, procuring, and implementing accessible information technology services. �DoIT collaborates with the Maryland Department of Disabilities and the Department of General Services to ensure the state procures, develops and implements accessible information technology systems. The Maryland Department of Budget & Management Chief Information Office is seeking part-time Document Remediation Specialists, Accessibility. ***This is a Part-Time position 10-20 hours week. Business hours are Flexible***� Salary Based on Experience: $20.00-$30.00/hour $20 - No experience $25 - Some experience - Has remediated a handful of documents previously. $30 - Requires only Office of Accessibility document process training, not training on the act of document remediation.� Is able to start the remediation work immediately after a compacted onboarding.� This professional has already remediated a wide range of complex documents and possesses a deep understanding of PDF UA and WCAG 2.1 AA .

POSITION DUTIES
After completing an in-house training curriculum on digital accessibility, the Document Accessibility Specialist remediates inaccessible electronic documents for both the Department of IT, and other State Agencies, as directed by the Director of the Office of Accessibility.� Position duties include technical assistance internally and externally to other state agencies, document remediation support, and training. Examples of Work: ● Under light supervision, reviews accessibility errors from common content authoring tools to determine the appropriate course of action for correction. ● Tests and remediates departmental documentation to comply with accessibility standards. ● Performs other related duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits. Leave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
