Job Summary
This position is located in the Department of Health (DC Health) within the Health Systems and Preparedness Administration (HSPA), Office of Emergency Preparedness and Resilience (OEPR). The incumbent candidate for this position will have the unique opportunity to be part of the Office of Emergency Preparedness and Resilience (OEPR) deployable resources team, working under the general direction of the Resource Program Manager to support public health readiness, response, and resilience operations within DC Health through involvement with the Strategic National Stockpile, Points of Distribution, Medical Reserve Corps, and Medical Countermeasures initiatives. These programs comprise our deployable assets used during planned and unplanned events to promote emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and resilience within the District’s healthcare systems.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
This position supports the development of long- and short-term programmatic goals, the development and analysis of new programs, or the modification of existing programs to adapt to the changing landscape of public health emergencies within the District.
Organizes, plans, and coordinates a variety of emergency response and preparedness
programs and plans with Federal, state, and local entities. Establishes and maintains
contacts with Federal, state, and local officials involved with various emergency action
plans.
Performs periodic inspections of facilities and resources; evaluates activities for
compliance with established directives. Develops and maintains a detailed inventory of
DC Health resources for potential use in all types of contingencies.
Develops, plans, coordinates, executes, and participates in emergency management preparedness exercises, workshops, and training with community partners to test compliance and readiness in accordance with published Emergency Management plans.
Qualifications And Education
Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.
Preferred Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in public health, public administration, emergency management, or health related fields or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development of planning, strategic development, public policy development, or public health.

The incumbent must be able to carry out official duties in a variety of settings and conditions. Routine work will occur primarily in an office setting.
