Role Summary The SAP Functional Consultant plays a critical role in analyzing, designing, and modernizing enterprise processes within SAP-centric landscapes using Tessera’s AI-native platform. This role blends functional SAP expertise with process consulting, integration knowledge, and applied automation. You will partner with customers and delivery teams to understand business processes, recommend optimized configurations, support SAP S/4HANA migrations, and leverage automation to accelerate modernization. This role is ideal for a professional who understands how SAP systems support business operations and wants to transform them safely and intelligently. Key Responsibilities 1. SAP Functional Consulting • Analyze and document current business processes across core SAP Finance, Logistics and Supply Chain modules, including FI (Financial Accounting), CO (Controlling), SD (Sales & Distribution), MM (Materials Management), PP (Production Planning), QM (Quality Management), LE (Logistics Execution), PM (Plant Maintenance), and adjacent enterprise systems. • Design solutions utilizing broader SAP components and solutions such as SCM (Supply Chain Management including APO/IBP), TM (Transportation Management), EWM (Extended Warehouse Management), PLM (Product Lifecycle Management). • Recommend optimized SAP configurations and functional designs aligned with clean-core principles and enterprise governance. • Lead SAP S/4HANA migrations by mapping data schemas, functional requirements, identifying gaps in legacy modules or solutions (e.g., LE-WM to EWM, APO to IBP), and assisting with data harmonization and custom code adaptation. • Translate workshops and business requirements into solution designs that integrate SAP ERP (SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA), CRM, SCM, and data platforms. • Design configuration documents and functional specification for WRICEF (Workflows, Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, and Forms) objects. 2. Enterprise Process & Integration Design • Collaborate on end-to-end processes (e.g. lead-to-cash, plan-to-fulfill, record-to-report, source-to-pay, acquire-to-decomission), and cross-system workflows that span ERP, CRM, SCM, and data platforms. • Define integration patterns using APIs, BAPIs, IDocs, RFCs, events, and middleware to enable seamless enterprise processes. • Partner with architecture and delivery teams to ensure functional feasibility, scalability, and governance. 3. AI-Enabled Process Modernization • Apply Tessera’s multi-agent AI platform to automate configuration, business workflows, data migration and harmonization, code remediation, and functional processes. • Acts as the conduit between customer business requirements and the Tessera AI platform's technical implementation. • Support implementation of AI-driven automation within SAP and adjacent systems. • Provide functional guidance during testing, validation, and post-deployment support to ensure business outcomes. 4. Customer Engagement & Delivery Support • Serve as a functional advisor during enterprise transformation programs. • Conduct workshops, process discovery sessions, and requirements validation with business stakeholders. • Translate technical and functional insights into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders. • Travel to customer sites to support solution design, deployment, and key milestones. 5. Ownership & Operational Excellence • Take responsibility for functional solution quality, alignment to business requirements, and enterprise governance standards. • Contribute to internal best practices for SAP functional consulting and process modernization. • Ensure solutions balance speed, safety, and operational rigor in mission-critical environments. Technical & Functional Skills SAP Functional Expertise • Strong knowledge of SAP business processes and modules. • Experience supporting S/4HANA migrations, ECC modernization, and clean-core initiatives. • Ability to map business requirements to functional SAP configurations and customizations. • Deep expertise in configuration of business processes and data models, specifically within the designated modules. Enterprise Integration & Process Orchestration • Understanding of enterprise integration patterns: APIs, IDocs, RFCs, ETL, events. • Familiarity with ERP-adjacent platforms (Salesforce, Workday, Snowflake, etc.). • Ability to analyze cross-system process flows and ensure functional consistency. Applied Automation & AI • Exposure to AI-driven process automation or intelligent workflow orchestration. • Ability to partner with technical and engineering teams to translate functional needs into automated solutions. Consulting & Communication • Strong skills in functional analysis, process documentation, and requirements gathering. • Able to communicate effectively with business users, SAP specialists, AI engineers, and executive stakeholders. Required Qualifications • 3–7+ years of SAP functional consulting or ERP business process experience. • Hands-on exposure to SAP ECC or S/4HANA functional configuration. • Experience mapping business requirements to ERP systems and integrations. • Ability to operate effectively in fast-moving, ambiguous enterprise transformation programs. • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. • Willingness to travel to customer sites (primarily U.S.). Preferred Qualifications • Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA migrations or large-scale ECC modernization programs. • Background in ERP-adjacent platforms, enterprise integration, or process automation. • Prior experience in customer-facing consulting or delivery roles. • Exposure to AI-enabled automation, intelligent agents, or workflow orchestration. • Experience in regulated or audit-heavy enterprise environments. • Ability to leverage basic ABAP knowledge to accelerate development design when required.
