Description of Work The Digital Accessibility Coordinator serves as the agency lead for digital accessibility and universal design within the NC Department of Public Instruction. This position provides consultation, training, system review, and procurement guidance to ensure digital content, instructional materials, and IT systems meet accessibility standards and comply with federal and state laws. The role supports DPI divisions and Public School Units in implementing inclusive digital practices that promote equitable access for all learners. This is a field-based position that may require travel to Public School Units and agency locations for training, consultation, and evaluation activities. Job Responsibilities: Lead accessibility training and consultation for DPI divisions and Public School Units, including workshops on accessible documents, media, instructional materials, and universal design implementation. Review DPI systems, websites, instructional platforms, and public-facing materials to ensure compliance with ADA, Section 508, WCAG 2.1 AA, and related accessibility standards. Provide oversight and evaluation of VPAT documentation and accessibility requirements during IT procurement and RFP processes, including service on evaluation committees. Research, recommend, and implement systems and processes to support captioning, transcription, and multimedia accessibility across agency platforms.
