Who we are looking for Bose is seeking a Senior or Lead Industrial Designer to join our Industrial Design team in Framingham, MA to help define and deliver the next generation of Bose products—shaping the form, function, and consumer experience from early concept through mass production. You’ll collaborate closely with design, engineering, marketing, product management, and manufacturing partners to deliver production-ready solutions. Level will be determined based on experience and demonstrated proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead industrial design development from concept exploration through to manufacturing.
  • Contribute to early concept exploration and problem framing as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product management, marketing, UX/UI, CMF, and user research to deliver cohesive product experiences.
  • Drive alignment across cross-functional teams (UX/UI, CMF, ME/EE, acoustics, PM, marketing) and clearly rationalize tradeoffs.
  • Balance design intent with technical feasibility, cost, performance, and schedule constraints throughout development.
  • Uphold design intent across development phases, ensuring a high level of craft, refinement, and design quality in final products.
  • Create and communicate design intent through presentations, renderings, CAD, and prototypes.
  • Delivering products through end-to-end development, including detailed design and production.
  • Lead and manage industrial design deliverables for multiple projects at once, at varying phases of development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of professional industrial design experience.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, KeyShot, and Siemens NX, SolidWorks, and/or Rhino.
  • Strong design sensitivity with a high level of technical proficiency and attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Able to prototype quickly (from low-fi to functional) and iterate based on cross-functional feedback and testing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to tell the story, drive alignment with stakeholders, and document/hand off design intent with clarity.
  • Portfolio demonstrating exceptional design craft, strong problem framing, and professional examples of shipped products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience designing consumer electronics with premium build, tight tolerances, and high volume manufacturing is highly preferred
  • Effective and positive collaborator across disciplines and functions.
  • Comfortable making trade-offs and decisions across complex development cycles.
  • Is comfortable with and works effectively in ambiguity.

  • The hiring range for this position in the primary work location of Framingham, Massachusetts is: \$126,400-\$173,800.
