Overview


</h5>






<p>This is a highly customer service oriented position in which employees should strive to exceed customer expectations. Perform a variety of work in the maintenance, repair and preventative maintenance of buildings and machinery/equipment including carpentry, electrical, plumbing and painting tasks. This posting is for 2nd shift. </p>

Responsibilities


</h5>






<ul> Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate. <li>Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists. </li><li>Paint and repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, and other parts of building structures. </li><li>Perform minor plumbing and electrical work not requiring license. </li><li>Clean and perform scheduled maintenance on Physical Plant rotating equipment. Assist others with repairs requiring two or more people. </li><li>Assist Campus Safety with fire alarm calls when necessary. </li><li>Submit work requests for building maintenance needs not requiring prompt attention. Perform basic computer checks/ changes on campus Energy Management Systems. Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision. </li><li>Must have general knowledge of campus procedures for emergency situations. Must be a problem solver and operate according to safety regulations on campus. Perform Life/Safety inspections </li><li>Live out and make decisions in line with the Clarkson University values in all daily activities Operate and work in a safe manner at all times and ensure the highest level of housekeeping Provide mentoring and leadership to interns, apprentices and/or student workers </li><li>Willingness to take courses and/or training to meet trade specific and University standards Complete Clarkson Vehicle Safety Checklist before vehicle use. Be responsible for care, cleanliness, and maintenance of assigned vehicle and report all vehicle concerns to appropriate supervisor immediately </li><li>Operate a Clarkson vehicle in accordance with University policy Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein </li><li>Deliver timely, friendly, and effective service to University faculty, staff and students Encourage and Promote Teamwork </li><li>Ability to gain general knowledge of the campus </li><li>Participate in reporting of campus damage and/or safety issues </li></ul>

Qualifications

<p><strong>Education: <br>Minimal Qualifications: </strong>High School diploma or equivalent. </p><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications: </strong>Associates degree or work experience equivalent. </p> <p><strong>Experience:</strong> </p><p><strong>Minimal Qualifications:</strong> </p><ul> <li>One year of experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. </li><li>Documented record of taking courses and/or training to stay current/grow skills in trade </li></ul>
