We are looking for an experienced leader to lead the Member Foundations Data Engineering team. This team builds the core datasets that represent how members interact with the arenaflex Product. This includes data about what members see, where they go, and what they do on arenaflex, which we source through client logged events. The personalized experience delivered to each member is logged from our backend systems, capturing how multiple algorithms interact to build the optimal page for each user. Putting the two together, we can get a clearer picture of how well arenaflex is working for our members. In this role, you will help influence and guide projects from end-to-end: ideation to production. You will ensure our data products are built with engineering rigor, our solutions are scalable and performant despite the very high (and growing) scale of our data, and our data assets have strong data quality guarantees. Just as important as recruiting, you develop connections with the team and help them flourish in their roles, so the team retains its best talent. • Feedback & Development: You will coach and guide employees through their strengths and weaknesses through regular feedback. • Partnership: You will continue to establish strong relationships with both business and technical leaders across arenaflex. Skills & Characteristics: • You are a strong people leader who also demonstrates humility. You care deeply about people and their success. You invest in your relationships so that you have an understanding of the whole person and their perspective. • You're not afraid of tough conversations and are experienced in coaching your colleagues through difficult situations. As someone in a leadership role ,you aim to be assertive, not passive nor aggressive, in providing input, support, and feedback. • You are forward-looking and able to anticipate the investments arenaflex should be making to improve efficiency, innovation, and alignment. You identify areas for continuous improvement, and persistently advocate for action to address them. • You're allergic to micromanagement. You prefer to give context, delegate, and watch amazing people exceed your hopes and expectations. Preferred Requirements: • You have strong business intuition, product sense, and analytic chops. • You have 8+ years of experience in data engineering. You have a strong programming background (at least 1 major language) and SQL experience in your background. • You have 6+ years of engineering leadership experience. • You have worked in a technical role with a large scale consumer facing digital company. • You have experience with client logging solutions. • You have a MS in Computer Science/Engineering, or related field. • You have strong experience with distributed data processing technologies (i.e. Spark/Hadoop, etc.) and extensive experience working with data at scale.
