POSITION OVERVIEW:
Oversee day-to-day tax process execution, managing tax operations, and ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and governance of tax compliance and reporting activities. This role supports the global tax provision, direct and indirect tax compliance, planning, transfer pricing, and controversy while supporting the business on tax-related matters. Serving as an operational leader for the Tax function, the position coordinates closely with the Head of Tax, cross functional partners, tax service providers, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of tax obligations and ongoing improvement of processes, technology, and controls.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee daily tax operations across tax accounting, domestic compliance, international compliance, indirect tax, planning, transfer pricing, and controversy functions.

Manage process governance, ensuring accuracy, quality, and consistency in tax workpapers, filings, reconciliations, and journal entries.

Review and approve key tax outputs, including tax returns, reconciliations, journal entries, provision, notices, and audit responses and maintain strong internal controls over tax processes, including SOX controls, documentation, sign-offs, and audit readiness and manage and support continuous improvement of tax provider relationships.

Support and review the preparation of year-end and interim income tax provisions and return to provision adjustments.

Oversee preparation and review of journal entries, reserves, account reconciliations, and tax-related financial statement disclosures and coordinate with FP&A, Controllership, and Financial Reporting on tax accounting matters and management reporting.

Support tax compliance obligations, ensuring accurate and timely filing of tax returns across the US, MX, and CA and work closely with third-party providers and global finance and accounting teams to support timely and accurate data requests for compliance and reporting.

Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on tax compliance matters, including tax planning, audits, and inquiries and support operational transfer pricing processes, including data gathering, documentation readiness, and coordination of required filings (e.g., local files, master file, CbCR notifications).

Lead operational aspects of tax technology tools, data platforms, automations, and process improvements.

Oversee maintenance of contractual access to historical returns, data logs, and tax systems.

Drive continuous improvement in tax processes, workflow efficiencies, and technology-enabled solutions.

Support audit defense activities for federal, state, local, and international tax audits.

Maintain appropriate documentation to support tax positions and organizational controls and manage communications with external tax authorities and auditors during tax audits and inquiries. Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field required. Master’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, or a Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or licensed attorney preferred.
  • Five (5) years directly related tax experience in public accounting or corporate tax department.
  • Knowledge U.S. federal, state, and international tax laws, including transfer pricing, tax provision (ASC 740), and global compliance frameworks.

  • Ability to review complex deliverables for accuracy and completeness in alignment with internal controls.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills—capable of translating complex tax matters for leadership and non-tax stakeholders.
