About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a fast‑paced design and manufacturing business specialising in retail display solutions. The company produces a wide range of bespoke fixtures and display products for major retail environments across the UK and internationally.

We are seeking an experienced Operations Support professional to join the team. This role will suit someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a busy environment, and wants to play a key part in keeping operations running smoothly.

Role Overview

The Operations Support position is integral to the day‑to‑day running of the production and logistics function. You will take responsibility for coordinating international shipments, managing supplier communications, processing purchase requirements, and providing essential support to the sales team with costings and material information.

Key Responsibilities

International Shipping & Logistics

Coordinate global shipments, primarily from suppliers in Asia and North America.

Prepare and manage commercial invoices and relevant import/export documents.

Work closely with freight partners to gather quotes, arrange transport, track deliveries, and resolve any logistics issues.

Ensure compliance with customs regulations and international trade standards.

Monitor delivery schedules and keep internal teams updated on shipment progress.

Supplier Coordination & Procurement

Work alongside the sales team to raise purchase orders for materials and components from approved suppliers.

Communicate with suppliers regarding costs, availability, lead times, and order updates.

Maintain accurate purchasing files and documentation.

Assist with stock planning by monitoring incoming goods and delivery timelines.

Sales Support

Obtain material quotations and costings from suppliers to support sales proposals.

Prepare clear cost breakdowns and pricing information for internal use.

Keep supplier price lists and cost data up to date.

Facilitate communication between suppliers and the sales function.

Administrative & Operational Support

Maintain clear and accurate records for shipments, purchasing, and invoicing.

Support improvements to operational procedures and internal processes.

Provide general administrative support to the Operations Manager and wider operations team as required.

Skills & Experience Required

Previous experience in international shipping, logistics, or import/export coordination.

Strong knowledge of commercial invoices and international freight documentation.

Experience working with freight forwarders.

Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Ability to work independently while contributing positively to team objectives.

High attention to detail with strong problem-solving ability.
