ITS Project Manager II works in concert with the Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and serves as the project management interface with assigned areas of ITS for the purpose of business-IT strategy development, solution discovery, service management, risk management and relationship cultivation. Working with the Director of Operational Excellence and ITS Management Team, the ITS Project Manager II serves as a critical linkage in ITS management and business strategy, providing project management support and guidance on technology opportunities, capabilities and risks, communicating decisions, priorities and relevant project information to appropriate levels of the organization. Responsible for identifying and leading new projects and initiatives designed to improve efficiency and/or achieve greater patient and provider experience across Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS). Manages complex and broad scale projects from discovery phase through implementation. The ITS Project Manager II must be able to communicate clearly, negotiate, listen, mitigate conflict, build alliances and achieve desired results using strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills. The ITS Project Manager II works closely with leaders on leveraging data and technology across diverse operational, clinical, regulatory and financial challenges across organizational and business-entity boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Works in conjunction with departmental resources, identifies areas of opportunity for improvement. Develops qualitative and quantitative analysis to support recommendations.
  • 2. Conducts research as required to successfully complete assigned projects. Collects data to support value-add improvements in clinical outcomes, operational efficiencies and/or improved financial performance. Develops meaningful and impactful analysis based on collected data to support changes in operations.
  • 3. Prepares business proposals and presentation to effectively communicate analysis to appropriate stakeholders and gain support/ buy-in of suggested improvements.
  • 4. Provides project management and staff support to optimize planning and performance, and provides ongoing project support and assistance as needed.
  • 5. Develops detailed project plans to ensure the efficient and timely implementation of process improvements. Responsible for managing assigned team (internal ITS staff as well as team members in other departments) to ensure project plan objectives remain on target and are achieved in accordance with the project plan deadlines.
  • 6. Responsible for successfully working with departments to modify departmental policies and procedures to ensure on-going performance improvements.
  • 7. Effectively communicates analysis to appropriate stakeholders, to gain support and buy-in of suggested improvements.
  • 8. Upon the successful completion of assigned projects, responsible for developing the appropriate analytical tools to track performance on an on-going basis.
  • 9. Participates in regulatory process, supports surveys and agreed reporting process, as well as regulatory research across the health system.
  • 10. Establish strong, effective and collaborative partnerships with key business area leaders, project managers and subject matter experts to identify specific business opportunities or to address business needs or problems and help build effective solutions
  • 11. Responsible for championing a cultural change towards a customer centric organization, focused on end to end customer experience, operational excellence, process management, and efficiency, including training managers and employees
  • 12. Develop and implement change management plans
  • 13. Interface effectively with all staff and collaborate closely with the site business improvement and CI function to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the operation and of its planning
  • 14. Develop and measure strategic success via KPIs
  • 15. Ensure strategic projects are aligned with business requirements and are coordinated with key stakeholders
  • 16. Optimize commitments of resources across programs, ensuring that they are appropriately engaged and resolving conflicts, issues and gaps
  • 17. Enable and track adoption of changes being rolled out through the organization, including impact assessments, training and communications
  • 18. Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION

 

Masters degree in ITS, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or related field preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE

 

Three years of experience preferred in healthcare or management consulting. Experience in data analysis and reporting required. Previous project management or leadership experience required.

 

SPECIAL SKILLS

 

Excellent analytical and quantitative skills. Ability to organize activities and establish priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to navigate across departments and delivery networks to achieve results. Proficient with computer information systems, data manipulation and reporting, demographics, forecasters, pivot tables, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

Must have the ability to travel to various sites across the health system.
