Regional Certified Medical Assistant Remote

OverviewThis position is responsible for the regional support and management of clinical tasks through central work of the Epic in basket messaging system. Responsibilities include but are not limited to managing work queues related to overdue and expiring patient orders, results, and patient messages. This role will work Regional Medication Prior Authorizations and work closely with the clinics to ensure timely follow up to patient tasks.This position requires on-site training in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for 3-6 months. We even offer pet insurance for your four-legged family members.• Early access to earned wages with Daily Pay, tuition reimbursement to help further your career and adoption assistance to help you grow your family.With a collective goal to champion a culture of belonging where everyone feels valued and respected, we honor the ways people are unique and embrace what brings us together.And, we believe equipping you with support and development opportunities is a vital part of delivering an exceptional employment experience.Find a fulfilling career and make a difference with UnityPoint Health.Responsibilities• Clinical Fax Management:• Processing Health Maintenance items that need manual entry into Epic to contribute to quality metrics.• Releasing orders entered by UnityPoint providers into Epic that are being completed at external service locations.• Closing out referrals by importing files into charts and appropriately updating the Health Maintenance list.• On average, each clinical team member handles 120-150 files per day.Prior Authorization Team Responsibilities:Our team manages a wide range of authorizations using third-party platforms, including Parachute (for CGMs), Amgen (for Prolia), CoverMyMeds, Availity, and more.• Demonstrates competence in the clinical skills necessary to carry out assigned duties• Responsible for assisting in managing Epic in baskets including but not limited to results, orders, and patient messages.• Complete tasks within scope of certification, licensure and competency as delegated by provider to support patient care.• Provider appropriate and timely documentation in the patient's electronic medical record using standardized workflows and processes• Apply Nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation within licensure guidelines• Complete appropriate documentation in electronic health record from phone calls to facilities or patients when working task buckets.• Ensure the electronic health record is maintained according to office policy and workflow through both electronic and paper scanning of documents• Support team efforts in patient care delivery objectivesQualifications• Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants. 3-5 years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant will be considered as an alternative requirement if a graduate from a non-accredited program. Being a graduate of a registered Apprenticeship will also be considered as alternative minimum requirements.• Computer data entry• Current CMA certification for Certified Medical Assistant from AAMA, NCCT, AMT, or NHS• BLS and Mandatory Reporter certification• Previous clinical experience in a medical setting
