[Remote] Engineering Manager, International Expansion - Remote USA (*eligible states)

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The RealReal is the world’s largest online marketplace for authenticated, resale luxury goods. In this role, you will lead a team of engineers to develop Ruby on Rails and Elixir systems, focusing on international expansion and enhancing customer experience in new markets.


Responsibilities

  • You will lead and mentor a team of talented software engineers in designing and implementing high-quality software solutions
  • Lead the engineering efforts in our e-commerce platform, focusing on scalability, user experience, and international expansion strategies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, ML team, and marketing, to develop and implement international capabilities to buyers
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of our core systems built on Ruby on Rails and Elixir, ensuring scalability, performance, and security
  • Mentor and manage a team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement, encouraging team members to explore new technologies and practices
  • Work cross-functionally with various teams to align engineering activities with broader company objectives

Skills

  • Proven track record in managing and scaling distributed, public cloud-native systems and services
  • Hands-on experience in collaborating with machine learning teams
  • Strong understanding of relational database systems (MySQL or PostgreSQL preferred)
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to mentor and inspire a team of engineers
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Extensive experience in Ruby on Rails development and architecture
  • Experience in working on and improving performance of Jamstack based applications
  • Experience with CRMs such as Salesforce
  • Experience with Elixir or a willingness to learn and incorporate it into our tech stack
  • Proven experience guiding a product launch into new international markets, including navigating the engineering work required for localization, regional payment gateways, and compliance
