JOB DESCRIPTION

Transitioning from your current role as a Notary to becoming a Digital Reporter ("DR") could be a significant shift. As a DR, you would oversee civil litigation proceedings and document all aspects, including witness testimony. It involves a more detailed and procedural involvement in legal proceedings compared to typical notarial duties. Are you interested in exploring this transition further?

The Digital Reporter is responsible for:

  • Overseeing proceedings as an independent custodian of the record.
  • Administering oaths to witnesses and fulfilling State Notary duties.
  • Recording proceedings with high-fidelity audio technology for clear and comprehensive documentation.
  • Annotating case events and terminology accurately for precise transcription.
  • Conducting in-depth research and verifying information from various sources.
  • Utilizing digital databases and online research tools proficiently.

REQUIREMENTS

  • State Notary Commission or eligibility to obtain it.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain certification/state licensure (in required states).
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, U.S. civil proceedings.
  • Ownership of or willingness to acquire digital reporting equipment.
  • Confidence to moderate live legal proceedings.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Comfortable with technology, particularly strong in keyboard skills.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, reliability, punctuality, and a professional appearance.
  • Open to working as an independent contractor.
  • Note: No shorthand nor stenography is required.
  • Willing to work both remotely and in person.
