About the team

The Individual Marketplace (IM) team supports people in the U.S. who need to purchase health coverage outside employer-based plans. It provides a seamless experience through Via Benefits, combining digital tools with licensed advisors to guide individuals—active employees, retirees, or those unaffiliated with an employer—through important health‑coverage decisions. IM helps employers offer greater choice, predictable costs, and reduced risk while ensuring individuals receive personalized, confidence‑building support throughout key life transitions. 

 

Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer in Testing for automation and manual testing of our web-based portal application, API Microservice, database, and mobile applications.

 

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated individual with a passion for testing and quality assurance:

  • Focus on requirements gathering, test planning, test execution, automated and manual testing and investigative analysis of defects to verify code changes during the development cycles 
  • Mentor peers in providing automation test strategies and acting as an integral part of automation proposals 
  • Identify gaps in test coverage and perform other testing as necessary including performance, security, accessibility, and user acceptance
  • Write clear, concise, descriptive bug reports and verify bug fixes
  • Work and communicate effectively in an agile team environment
  • Develop and maintain a suite of complex automated tests supporting code releases, migrating manual tests to automation where appropriate, and exploring other opportunities to increase automated testing.
  • Troubleshooting web applications – verifying reported live issues, identifying their underlying cause and seeing them through to resolution, liaising with development and product management teams where appropriate. 
  • Championing testing, effective test automation and good testing practices.
  • Actively supporting agile development methods and best practices.
  • Supporting and actively work towards test-driven development.
  • Helping to improve processes and procedures.
  • Producing clear and concise test reports and release notes when needed. 
  • Assisting with the setting up and configuration of test environments.
  • Carrying out tool evaluations and selections.

 

Requirements

  • 6-9 years of software quality engineering testing experience
  • Proficient at Associate Software Developer Level or equivalent experience in the software testing field
  • Expert automated test scripting in any object-oriented programming language (Preferably C#) targeting web applications, microservices and mobile applications.
  • Hand-on in using xUnit framework will be an added advantage.
  • Hand-on in automation and capable of creating framework and builder for modules.
  • Experienced with testing Microservice, Database (like Oracle, SQL Server & Cosmos DB) and Web Applications
  • Hand-on in database testing. Knowledge on performance and security testing will be an added advantage.
  • Working experience with Source/Version control systems (e.g.: Git)
  • Hands on experience preparing test environment, test data as per requirement.
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies preferable. 
  • Experience in employee benefits, insurance, healthcare, or wealth management preferred.
  • ISTQB certification preferred.
  • Certifications or professional training in software engineering principles such as test automation and agile development methodologies desired.

 

 

Qualifications

BE, BTech or MCA as educational qualification.
