From character and level design to competitive gameplay and system design, help shape the future of interactive entertainment at Epic.<br><br><strong>What You'll Do<br><br></strong>Epic Games is looking for a Senior Systems Designer to own the development of key progression, economy, and gameplay balance-related features for a new game project. This includes designing and prototyping the features, working with a cross-disciplinary development team to implement them, and ultimately seeing them through to ship and beyond, maintaining and evolving them in a live game environment, and above all, making sure our players are having fun.<br><br><strong>In this role, you will<br><br></strong><ul><li>Work in close collaboration with project leads & directors to shape and evolve various complex design systems that support the engagement, gameplay, and creative vision of the project</li><li>Design, document, prototype, and iterate on these systems, working with a team of developers across multiple disciplines, and oversee their successful implementation from start to finish</li><li>Get hands on creating the scripting, data, and content required by those systems, diving into the engine and leveraging other tools</li><li>Be responsible for soliciting and integrating feedback from across the team on your own initiative, ensuring we’re continually delivering a fun and fresh experience to our players</li><li>Expand and iterate on those systems once they’re in the live environment, ensuring the game remains exciting and engaging to players<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>What We're Looking For<br><br></strong><ul><li>5+ years of experience shipping titles as a Systems Designer, working on progression, economy, gameplay system, and gameplay balance features and content</li><li>Experience working on live-service multiplayer environments and ability to get your hands dirty in Unreal Engine is preferred, bonus points for mobile game experience</li><li>Demonstrated talent for empathizing with players and a deep understanding of player motivations, forms of play, and the effects of progression and goal setting on play</li><li>Strong interest in game progression and economies, and an understanding of what makes them work</li><li>Ability to take initiative and react quickly to changing project needs, drive decisions, then owning the outcome and vision</li><li>You’re player-focused, passionate, solutions-focused, and innovative; These traits equal success at Epic and influence everything we do<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA & WA). <br><br></strong>Pay Transparency Information<br><br>The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience.
