Position Specific Description

The Social Media Leader is an executive-level role who will serve as a strategic architect and influencer within NextEra Energy's Marketing & Communications function. This leader will define the vision, frameworks and priorities that guide how social media supports brand reputation, business objectives and audience engagement. Success in this role requires strong executive influence, crossfunctional leadership and a rigorous, insightdriven approach to decisionmaking.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary advisor on social media strategy to senior leadership, guiding executives on the benefits and adoption of social media within communications and marketing programs
  • Collaborate with the Brand team to execute the company's vision across social media channels
  • Enhance enterprise social media analytics capabilities by defining metrics frameworks, improving measurement rigor, and translating complex performance data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership
  • Influence and secure budgets to run successful social media campaigns
  • Expand and optimize NextEra Energy's social media channels, including emerging platforms (e.g., Reddit, Substack, TikTok)
  • Guide executive thought leadership on LinkedIn and other platforms
  • Oversee emergency communications and social customer service management
  • Lead vendor and operations management for social media initiatives
  • Integrate paid and organic efforts to maximize ROI
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration on creative, optimizing content based on audience and performance data
  • Develop perspectives on agent engine optimization and influencer marketing
  • Ensure all campaigns and content reflect brand standards and strategic messaging
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Position Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in social media, digital marketing, public affairs or communications
  • Proven ability to influence across a matrixed organization and serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership
  • Demonstrated success in securing executive buy-in and resources for social media initiatives
  • Experience managing and developing social media teams
  • Strong understanding of social media landscape, best practices and analytics tools
  • Excellent communication, leadership and relationship-building skills

Position Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in energy, utilities or regulated industries
  • Experience using enterprise social media management platforms, including Sprinklr
