The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As a Sr. Data Engineer, you will have the opportunity to design, develop, and deliver high-performance enterprise analytics and data warehousing solutions leveraging SAP HANA (advanced SQL/SQL Script), Snowflake, SAP BW on HANA, ABAP. This role requires a deep understanding of SAP HANA architecture along with SQL expertise, Snowflake and SAP BW on HANA data modeling techniques, and practical experience in ETL/ELT processes involving Snowflake, ensuring seamless data flow and high-performance analytics capabilities. As a Sr. Data Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Building HANA models using Calculation Views (Graphical & Scripted), Stored procedures, optimized for real-time reporting and data consumption. Expertise in data modeling, SQL scripting, stored procedures, and performance tuning. Leveraging Snowflake features with your expertise such as scripting, time travel, virtual warehouses, and query optimization. Experience with Snowflake Advanced features including Snow pipe, Streams, Tasks, and Stored Procedures. Expertise in advanced SQL like writing and optimizing complex SQL queries to handle large data volumes efficiently. Collaborating with data architects and business stakeholders to design scalable and efficient data models in both SAP HANA and Snowflake, supporting current and future analytical needs. Deep understanding of data generation, transformation, and consumption across the full SAP Order-to-Cash lifecycle, including key tables, document flows, and SD–FI dependencies. Ability to trace complete data lineage from source transactions to downstream analytics and reporting layers. Hands-on experience extracting and integrating OTC data from SAP ECC/S/4HANA into enterprise data platforms. Strong ability to convert SAP OTC business rules (pricing, billing, revenue recognition, returns) into trusted analytical datasets. Acting as a bridge between SAP functional teams and analytics users to deliver business-aligned insights and KPIs. Designing and developing SAP BW on HANA solutions including ADSOs, Composite Providers, Open ODS Views, and multi-layered data models. Design and optimize ETL processes using BW transformations, DTPs, Process Chains, and HANA-based data flows. Proactively monitor and optimize query performance, data loads, and overall system health for both the SAP HANA and Snowflake environments. Developing and enhancing ABAP objects including Function Modules, Enhancements to support BW and HANA integrations. Provide expert-level support for data issues, performance bottlenecks, and system failures, ensuring minimal downtime. Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) 8 years of hands-on experience in HANA, Snowflake and advanced SQL/SQL Script, Additionally with SAP BW experience. Deep understanding of data generation, transformation, and consumption across the full SAP Order-to-Cash lifecycle, including key tables, document flows, and SD–FI dependencies. Expertise with Snowflake advanced features. Previous experience in Developing and enhancing ABAP objects including Function Modules, Enhancements to support BW and HANA integrations. Expertise in Native HANA models using Calculation Views (Graphical & Scripted). Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: Excellent communication with business stakeholders to gather, clarify, and validate requirements, ensuring a shared understanding across technical and non-technical teams. Translating complex business needs into scalable HANA and Snowflake technical architecture designs. To be acting as a bridge between business and technical teams, aligning data models, reporting needs, and performance expectations. Producing clear documentation and presentations that explain architectural decisions, data flows, and system capabilities.
