Amazon is seeking an enthusiastic Tax Intern to work in its Global Direct Tax Reporting and Compliance Teams based in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune.

The Amazon Tax Department is a fast-paced, team-focused, dynamic environment. The mission of Global Tax Reporting and Compliance team is to comply with US Domestic and International/Foreign Tax reporting requirements and manage the worldwide, tax-related filings of Amazon’s legal entities.

This position will be responsible (as part of a larger team) for the preparation of various Tax returns or filings, related calculations and maintaining strong compliance supporting documentation. This position may also assist in the provision of data to tax authorities and other tax compliance actions relating to Amazon’s global operations.

Work may also include supporting internal and external audits, and cross-functional liaising with colleagues from Accounting, Business and other Finance Department.

A successful candidate will have good organizational and communication skills, a strong attention to detail, basic understanding of financial systems, accounting (IFRS/US GAAP) and direct tax concepts.

Key job responsibilities

Working with Global Direct Tax Reporting and Compliance team, Tax Intern will be required to:

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly tax computation including detailed working papers. to support various tax filings.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly tax payment calculations and supporting scheduled to ensure timely tax payments.
  • Prepare monthly/ quarterly tax provision workings and analysis to support Amazon’s Global Tax provision and reporting requirements.
  • Able to extract, analyse, and review accounting data and make appropriate recommendations/adjustments in tax calculations.
  • Coordinate information requests with internal and external service providers to ensure accurate and timely closure of tax reporting deliverables.
  • Supporting new entity and business launches from a tax standpoint.
  • Identify process improvements which increase efficiency and scalability of data.

About The Team

The Global Direct Tax Reporting and Compliance team (Direct R&C) is responsible for ensuring Amazon is compliant worldwide for Income tax, Excise tax, withholding tax, Tax provisions and R&D.

Key focus is on Income Tax controllership function and the related operations; this includes, but is not limited to US GAAP/SEC Reporting, Standalone Financial Statement Reporting for Foreign Subsidiaries, Tax Controversy Support

Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ years of finance experience

  • IPCC Cleared
