Test Automation Architect (Hybrid)

This role is based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and follows a hybrid work model, requiring in-office presence three days per week. Please note: Due to the in-office requirement, we will only be considering candidates that are local to the Metro Detroit area at this time. Detroit Labs is looking for experienced Test Automation Architects to join an exciting project with an existing client that drives game-changing automotive technology. This role will work on connected vehicle services for customers owning vehicles with connected capabilities across the USA and Canada. Be yourself in your responses, and our team will look forward to understanding what you can bring to this role! • 10+ years of overall Quality Assurance experience with at least 8 years of test automation experience • Experience designing and implementing enterprise-wide test automation frameworks • Experience automating testing for AI-based systems • Strong hands-on experience with API test automation (Java, JUnit/TestNG, Cucumber, etc.) • Deep understanding of arenaflex/CD pipelines and DevOps practices; experience using Groovy scripts to configure test execution jobs • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) • Required exposure to Kubernetes and Docker microservices environments • UI automation experience using Selenium, Maven, Java, Cucumber, etc. • Experience debugging and troubleshooting issues in Linux environments • Strong exploratory testing skills with the ability to understand complex domains, architecture, and requirements • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders • Experience with performance testing (JMeter or LoadRunner) • Exposure to security testing practices • Automotive or connected vehicle industry experience is a plus Responsibilities • Architect and implement intelligent, scalable test automation frameworks using AI-assisted tools • Design cloud-native testing infrastructures for distributed and microservice-based systems • Establish testing standards, governance models, and automation best practices • Implement intelligent test data management and synthetic data generation strategies • Develop and enhance API and UI automation suites on demand • Integrate automated testing into arenaflex/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows • Guide and mentor teams in adopting modern testing tools and quality practices • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end quality of enterprise systems • Perform exploratory testing across complex connected vehicle workflows • Troubleshoot defects across backend services, middleware, and in-vehicle integrations • Drive continuous improvement across processes, products, and technology • Work a hybrid schedule, coming into the Auburn Hills office at least three days per week • The salary for this role is $115,000-125,000 commensurate with experience • Full medical, dental, vision benefits • 401K contribution options • Paid time off package for holiday, sick, and vacation days • Parental leave program • Monthly budgets for “team fun” bonding events • Free lunch for various company meetings and Lunch & Learns • Access to our mentorship opportunities and employee resource groups (ERGs) • Volunteer opportunities • All-company remote-friendly activities • Plenty of Detroit Labs swag Apply tot his job
