Vertical Sales Engineer I, Spectrum Business

As a Sales Engineer I at Spectrum, you’ll partner with sales teams and clients to design innovative solutions for Managed Services, Fiber Internet, Ethernet networks and Unified Communications. You’ll play a critical role in evaluating customer needs and delivering strategic proposals that drive value and connectivity for organizations.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Collaborate with sales teams and clients to assess network environments and business requirements, shaping strategic, cost-effective solutions for data, voice and video needs
  • Design and present network solutions for voice and data applications, preparing specifications, topologies and conceptual designs for review and costing
  • Conduct site surveys and provide technical sales support, documentation and guidance throughout installation and integration to ensure client satisfaction
  • Coordinate with Finance and internal teams on solution pricing and approvals, compiling cost elements and ensuring proposals meet both technical and business objectives
  • Deliver technical training and support to sales and account personnel, maintaining expertise in Spectrum products, services and emerging industry trends
  • Support the development and launch of new products and services, handle complex technical questions during installation and integration
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and contribute to special projects as assigned
Working Conditions
  • Eligible employees may work from home up to one day each week under Spectrum’s Hybrid Work Policy, with primary work in an office setting

What You’ll Bring to Spectrum

Required Qualifications

Education
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent training, education and experience, preferably focused on Information Technology or Telecommunications Engineering Technology or equivalent work experience
Experience
  • 1+ year of sales engineering and networking experience in the telecom or service provider industry
Skills
  • Foundational ability to design and implement small to medium WAN solutions for up to 20 sites using SD-WAN, Ethernet and legacy network technologies
  • Working knowledge of corporate data security systems including Firewalls, VPNs, DNS and routing, switching and security protocols such as BGP, ISIS, OSPF, RIP, CoS/QoS and emerging technologies
  • Understanding of networking concepts including VPN, TCP/IP, IP VPN, MPLS, VPLS, DWDM, CWDM and converged multimedia applications
  • Foundational experience in Unified Communications and voice signaling protocols such as SIP and VoIP for hosted and premises-based solutions
  • Skilled in multitasking, collaborating with sales managers and executives to drive results and enhance customer experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication, presentation and proposal design skills
  • Proficient in MS Visio, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Valid Driver's License with satisfactory driving record and insurance coverage
Preferred Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical equivalent in related field
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, Network Engineering, Value Added Reseller, network administration or other relevant telecom roles
Skills
  • Certifications in data networking, WANs, voice communications or security from providers such as ISC, Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto or Juniper
  • Ability to present service designs clearly, articulating benefits and outcomes

A qualified applicant’s criminal history, if any, will be considered in a manner consistent with applicable laws, including local ordinances.

The base pay for this position generally is between $57,400.00 and $95,000.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.

In addition, this position has a commission earnings target starting at $25,000.
