YF connects people to Yellowstone through outstanding visitor experiences and educational programs and translates those experiences into lifelong support of the park and philanthropic investment in its future. Our educational programming and products help people enhance their understanding and appreciation of the wildlife, natural wonders, and cultural history of the park. YF’s operations include Park Stores in and around Yellowstone; the Yellowstone Forever Institute, which offers in-depth educational programing for people of all ages; and a supporter program which raises funds for priority park projects.


The Retail team of YF is focused on delivering exceptional experiences in our stores both in the park and in surrounding areas and on our e-commerce site. The Warehouse and Retail Assistant plays a critical role in Yellowstone Forever’s warehouse and retail operations, and is responsible for performing an array of duties including, receiving and accounting for inventory using inventory management software, binning and transferring inventory, picking and packing inventory for delivery to stores, driving the delivery truck, safely handling heavy boxes by hand, moving pallets within the warehouse and on and off of trucks using mechanized equipment, and assisting with other retail operations including purchase order reconciliation and store operations. The Warehouse and Retail Assistant must enjoy the physical challenges of this job, be detail oriented and accurate, have good computer and communication skills, and maintain a positive attitude during very busy periods of seasonal operations.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Wrap, box, pack, label, palletize, load, and secure merchandise in delivery trucks using appropriate tools and following relevant procedures and standards.
  • Carefully handle fragile merchandise, ensuring minimal loss to breakage.
  • Record any impaired or damaged merchandise items in the warehouse management system.
  • Safely operate mechanized inventory handling equipment, including carts, pallet jacks, dock lifts, and walking-stacker forklift.
  • Safely operate motor vehicles, driving up to 200 miles per day to make deliveries.
  • Ability to maintain a valid Driver’s license with a favorable driving record and the ability to pass Yellowstone Forever’s driver training.
  • Welcome delivery truck drivers and assist with unloading shipments onto the dock in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Accurately enter data in inventory and logistics software program.
  • Receive shipments and track them utilizing the warehouse management system, including receipt of items by type and quantity against the purchase order, posting the item receipt, and accurately recording bin put away.
  • Use the warehouse management system (WMS) to tag and label merchandise with appropriate barcodes.
  • Use WMS scanners, tablets, and computers to find, track, reconcile, and record all inventory movement within the warehouse and for picking and packing items to fulfill orders.
  • Prepare all transfer orders utilizing the warehouse management system to include picking, packing the merchandise, and preparing packing slips for delivery to stores.
  • Utilize the warehouse management system to complete on-line sales orders, including picking the order, packaging it appropriately, and shipping it using prescribed mailing procedures.
  • Conduct regular inventory cycle counts and physical inventory counts using the warehouse management system.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the warehouse and logistics operations of Yellowstone Forever.
  • Effectively communicate warehouse-related information across the organization, to the National Park Service, and to all Park partners.
  • Support the Purchasing Manager with product procurement responsibilities for our stores and eCommerce site.
  • Become part of the core, knowledgeable staff with an understanding and appreciation for our product offerings.
  • Have a passion for creating and delivering a superior customer experience.
  • Represent YF and its mission accurately and positively.
  • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment with YF employees, volunteers, and partners.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Hands-on experience with inventory and logistics software programs.
  • Great physical stamina and manual dexterity.
  • Team player.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Problem solver.
  • Ability to count accurately and be consistent in recording inventory in the warehouse management system.
  • Ability to lift boxes/equipment weighing up to 40 pounds (with support of lift equipment). 
  • Ability to stand for extended periods. 
  • Demonstrated ability to complete tasks in a timely, organized, and accurate manner.
  • Proven ability to work as a member of a team to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to represent YF in a courteous and professional manner.
  • A satisfactory criminal background check is a condition of employment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Yellowstone National Park.
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment.
  • Previous working experience as a Warehouse Worker for 2 years.


Compensation:

This is a full-time, non-exempt position, which will be based in Gardiner, Montana. Travel between the offices and throughout the park may be required. Salary is based upon experience.
