WordPress Systems & Performance Engineer (Cloudways & Cloudflare Expert)

Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled WordPress Systems & Performance Engineer with expertise in Cloudways and Cloudflare to optimize and maintain high-performing, secure, and scalable WordPress environments. This role involves managing cloud-based hosting solutions, enhancing website performance, and ensuring seamless integration with various web technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in system architecture, DevOps practices, and front-end/back-end development to deliver robust web solutions aligned with business objectives.

Duties

  • Manage and optimize WordPress hosting environments on Cloudways, ensuring maximum uptime and performance.
  • Configure and fine-tune Cloudflare settings for security, CDN delivery, and DNS management to enhance website speed and protection.
  • Develop and implement automation scripts using tools like Ansible, Jenkins, and GitHub to streamline deployment workflows.
  • Monitor system performance metrics, troubleshoot issues related to server load, latency, or downtime using tools such as Data visualization dashboards.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers to improve UI/UX through responsive web design using HTML, CSS, SCSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript frameworks like React or Angular.
  • Maintain and optimize database systems including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, SQLite for efficient data handling.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and deployment of updates across multiple environments.
  • Develop RESTful APIs and web services using PHP, Node.js, Python, or Ruby on Rails to support application functionalities.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to SDLC best practices while maintaining high standards for software development quality.
  • Utilize version control systems such as Git or SVN for source code management.
  • Apply knowledge of system architecture principles to design scalable solutions that meet evolving business needs.
  • Ensure security best practices are followed across all systems by configuring firewalls, SSL certificates, and other protective measures via Cloudflare and related tools.

Experience

  • Proven experience working with WordPress hosting environments on Cloudways or similar cloud platforms.
  • Strong understanding of cloud services including AWS or Azure for deploying scalable web applications.
  • Hands-on experience with performance tuning tools such as Cloudflare CDN, caching strategies, and server optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools like Jenkins, Ansible, Docker for automation and containerization of applications.
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3 (SCSS), JavaScript (TypeScript), React or Angular frameworks for responsive UI development.
  • Extensive knowledge of back-end programming languages such as PHP, Python, Ruby on Rails, C#, or Java for application development.
  • Experience working with databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB; including schema design and query optimization.
